My Grandma Romney

Last week I traveled to Tucson, AZ to attend my Grandma Romney's funeral. I went down early with my mom and Michael came down the day before. I was able to help dress my grandma in her temple clothes. It was a very special experience. She looked so beautiful. The spirit was very strong in the room and I could feel how much each of us there loved her. The funeral was a beautiful service. Elna, my sister, and I played a piano duet "My Heavenly Father Loves Me", which my grandma sang to us all the time. She was buried in Duncan, AZ alongside my grandpa and his first wife. I am so grateful for the gospel and the comfort that comes from knowing my family is eternal and we can and will see each other again.

Bittersweet Days

It is a strange time in our family's life right now and bittersweet is the perfect word to describe it. Michael's business is booming and I am a potential candidate for a teaching job. On the other hand, my Grandma Romney is not doing so well. She recently had surgery for a hole in her bladder and also is fighting cancer that is quickly spreading. She will need 24 hour care now. We're not sure if she will make it. Though it is very sad I hope that the Lord's will is carried out and that as a family we will be comforted with whatever that may be. I love her very much and don't want her to be in pain. I am so glad I have the gospel!

Potential Candidate!?

Back in February I attended a job fair in Vail, AZ. The Vail school district was recruiting teachers for the coming school year. I interviewed with a principal and two of his teachers. I felt it went pretty well. I didn't hear anything though until this last friday. I recieved an email saying that they were very impressed with me and my skills and that I am being considered as a potential candidate. I am very excited! I don't know if I will called but at least I have made the first cut. The district is of course being effected by the economy and so the number of new hires is limited. They don't know how many positions will be finalized yet but Michael and I are hoping that I will be one of them. Please pray for us. This is something we not only desire but need in order to better provide for our family and again be out on our own and self-sufficient.

Homeschooling

So, I've been thinking alot about homeschool lately. I really want to homeschool my kids. Being trained as a teacher and working in the schools, I have seen the pros and cons of public school. My reasons for wanting to homeschool are mostly social but also I really feel like I can give them an as good or better education. I have the education and skills to do so and since their my children I know them the best and can give them the challenges and support that they individually might need. I really wish my friends that are considering this too could all live in the same city as me so we could hookup and teach together. It would be so fun and would allow our kids to socialize together and also learn values and things that public schools would never allow to be taught in the classroom. I'm curious to know what you think, leave a comment or two.
